The Centre for Welsh Medium Higher Education leads in implementing, supporting and facilitating national schemes funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to increase, develop and expand opportunities for study through the medium of Welsh at Welsh universities, in support of the Welsh Assembly Government’s policy commitment to create a coleg ffederal (Welsh medium federal college).

Y Porth ("the Gateway") is the national e-learning portal for the Welsh medium higher education sector. Developed by the Centre's e-learning team, Y Porth uses the latest web technologies to provide a platform for Centre-funded Welsh medium resources and modules developed by Welsh universities.
Mantais
The Centre is responsible for the Mantais campaign which promotes Welsh medium higher education nationally. Mantais arranges a full programme of activities locally throughout the year, in partnership with secondary schools, further education colleges and other education providers.
Staff Development
The Staff Development Programme is intended for anyone in the HE sector who wishes to follow professional skills training, including the PGCTHE, through the medium of Welsh. These sessions will be offered to all members of staff, new and experienced, as well as to research students, wherever they are located.
